Swallow Studies Offered
FEES (Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing)
- Performed with a thin scope passed through the nose
- Helps identify safe foods/liquids and strategies to improve swallowing
- No special preparation required
VFSS (Video Fluoroscopic Swallow Study)
- X-ray test with food and liquid containing barium
- Observes swallowing in real time
- Identifies risks of aspiration or choking
- No special preparation required
