Jackson County Hospital offers a range of outpatient cardiopulmonary diagnostic services to help your provider evaluate how your heart and lungs are functioning. These tests are available with a provider’s order and are performed in a comfortable outpatient setting.
Available Services
Electrocardiograms (EKGs)
- Quick and painless test that records the electrical activity of the heart
- Helps detect abnormal rhythms, heart attacks, and other cardiac conditions
Holter Monitors (24 & 48-Hour)
- A portable device worn continuously to record heart rhythms over time
- Used to detect irregularities that may not appear during a standard EKG
Pulmonary Function Testing (PFTs)
- Measures how well your lungs move air in and out and how efficiently they transfer oxygen
- Useful in diagnosing asthma, COPD, and other lung conditions

Yes. Your primary care provider or specialist must order the test before scheduling.
No. Most cardiopulmonary tests are noninvasive and comfortable.
It depends on the test:
- EKG: 5–10 minutes
- Holter monitor: setup takes 15–20 minutes, then worn for 24–48 hours
- PFT: 30–45 minutes, depending on the type of testing
Results are reviewed by a provider and sent to your referring physician, usually within 1–2 business days.
