Jackson County Regional Health Center Nurse Honored with DAISY Award for Extraordinary Patient Care

Jackson County Regional Health Center is proud to recognize Lucas Wood, RN, as the latest recipient of the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses—an international recognition program honoring nurses who demonstrate exceptional compassion and dedication to patient care.

Wood, a Registered Nurse in the Patient Care Unit, was nominated twice for the outstanding compassion, kindness, and support he provides to patients and their families.

“Lucas was the nurse who cared for my husband as he passed. His compassion and caring demeanor were so reassuring during a very stressful time. He did everything he could to make my husband comfortable and ease things for our family,” one nomination shared.

Another nomination noted, “[Lucas is] very, very respectful and kind, and very knowledgeable. He would explain what he was doing and why. I could tell he loved his job too. He always walked in happy and would take the time to chat for a moment about our lives, and we had a few good laughs.”

The DAISY Award is part of the DAISY Foundation program that celebrates the clinical skill and compassionate care nurses provide every day. Recipients are selected through a nomination process that highlights nurses who go above and beyond in their role. Fellow JCRHC nominees for 2026 were Alyssa Scanlon, Amy Roling, Jenna Holtz, Megan Meinecke, and Megan Taylor.

“Lucas exemplifies the compassion, dedication, and professionalism we strive to provide every patient who walks through our doors,” said Julie Fenoglio, JCRHC Chief Nursing Officer. “We are proud to recognize Lucas and the meaningful difference he makes for our patients and our community.”

As a DAISY Award honoree, Wood received a certificate, a DAISY Award pin, daisy plant, and a hand-carved sculpture known as A Healer’s Touch, representing the meaningful connection nurses share with their patients.

Jackson County Regional Health Center encourages patients, families, and staff to recognize nurses who make a difference by submitting nominations for the DAISY Award. To learn more about the services JCRHC provides, visit www.jcrhc.org.
