Why Choose Jackson County?
All team members are paid a wage for the work that we perform. Pay is determined in large part by job requirements, skills and knowledge that are used on the job along with what the external market pays for the job. Every year, JCRHC reviews all jobs across our facility as part of our annual market analysis. This exercise helps to ensure we know whether our wages are competitive in the market. Adjustments are then made periodically based on our ability to financially afford them within our budget.
JCRHC uses the following guiding principles for administering our compensation program:
- Offer market competitive practices
- Provide compensation that is fair, objective and non-discriminatory
- Easy to understand for team members
- Use only valid, recognized salary survey data sources
- Comply with local, state and federal laws and regulations
- Be financially responsible and operate within budgetary guidelines

When enrolled in either health plan, you may open a Health Savings Account with your bank of choice. An H.S.A. is a tax-advantaged, personal savings account that allows you to use those account funds to pay for current or future healthcare expenses. Contributions to an H.S.A. account are not taxed and the funds used to pay for qualified health care expenses are spent tax-free.
You may not contribute to a HSA if you are covered by Medicare or a non-QHDHP.
The legislature created IPERS in 1953 to replace the Iowa Old-Age and Survivors’ Insurance System. Initially IPERS was a money purchase system that calculated benefits based on contributions. Today IPERS is a multiple-employer, cost-sharing, contributory defined benefit pension plan, meaning benefits are calculated with a specific formula. IPERS exists to create a secure retirement for our members and to help public entities attract and retain a quality workforce.
IPERS takes seriously its responsibility to educate members about the plan, its attributes and how it differs from other retirement savings plans. A defined benefit plan, IPERS benefits are guaranteed for life. After members retire, they will receive the same monthly benefit for the remainder of their lives. Coupled with Social Security and members’ personal savings, IPERS benefits help provide a secure retirement.
Employees at JCRHC are considered Regular members or for our Ambulance Team Members, Protection Occupations.
For more information regarding IPERS, please visit www.ipers.org
